Carey was once a popular fashion model. She stands almost 5'10" tall and was well-liked by high-end American designers, such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren as well as others. Her father, who was a renowned scientist who won the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists' 1979 Scientist of Year award, is a renowned scientist. Carey was a frequent traveler in honor of her father's efforts. While she was at the University of Colorado at part-time when she was discovered to be the target of Ford model Agency representative in New York. She moved to France in 1980. She stayed for a short time in Paris as well as Bordeaux prior to deciding to move back to New York to continue with her college education and modeling career. In 1986, she made her debut as an actor with a small character as a minor character in "Club Paradise" alongside Robin Williams. She enjoys rock climbing, skiing, and windsurfing.
